IIEEX is a U.S. Department of State designated J-1 visa sponsor as well as a trusted partner of  the Korea Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Korean National Institute for International Education (NIIED). Each year, we welcome dozens of talented students just like you into the Korea WEST Program, funded by the Korean government.

Not only will you gain practical experience in your field or industry through an internship or training. In addition, you will also benefit from exposure to a new cultural environment and improve your language skills. Thus, the program is an investment in your own skills and your applicant profile.

Our participants from Korea go through a structured placement process during which they are constantly guided and looked after by us. Each participant gets a personal placement coordinator. We do not only support you in finding an internship or training but as a designated sponsor we will also support you during your visa application and are your main contact point while in the U.S.

THE STEPS

Follow these 3 steps in order to apply for and join our J-1 exchange program to the U.S.A.
STEP
  • Request information about the program by using the online form below.
  • In the next step, you are asked to email us your resume in English as well as details about your desired internship. We will then send you our throughts and a first feedback, and will be happy to schedule a short phone call with you to discuss program details.
  • Get familiar with all the details of the program, and our terms & conditions.
  • Make a final decision if you like to book the program.
STEP
  • As soon as you review all the information provided and we receive your registration form, we can schedule a welcome call with you.
  • After the welcome call, you will tell us if you like to start the placement process.
  • If yes, the placement process starts.
  • You will work with your personal placement coordinator together on your professional application documents such as resume and cover letter. We will also show you how yto create a video introduction using our tool called CVOne.
STEP
  • Your coordinator will begin contacting companies that fit your profile, and will let you know as soon as a company is interested in interviewing you.
  • We will organize a phone or video interview between you and the interested host company.
  • After a successful interview and receiving an offer, we will prepare the internship contract.
  • After you have successfully been placed, you start your visa application with us.

Participation Terms:

  • You can only intern in your field of study
  • Internships are possible for up to 12 months
  • Can be paid or unpaid
  • You must be enrolled in a university outside the USA or be a recent  graduate
  • Average Placement time: 1-6 months
  • Average visa processing time: 1-2 month
  • Time to register before departure: 6-8 months
